Horatio is the "hero" of the story, he is expected to bravely spend the night in the haunted "Spectral Bed Chamber". However, within this scene we realise that he may not be as brave as he seemed, unless protecting his cherished teddy "Bartholemew". The oversized nightshirt hints at his child-like nature, whilst the colour blue has blood-line related implications.
