We spent the whole day carrying out any alterations discovered the day before as well as a lot of breaking down to the dancer's costumes. Set up in the workroom again, which was better organised and prepared with a more efficient lay-out.
Regarding hair and makeup, we need more time to prepare this in future, as all the ghost dancers must be painted white and we are very limited on time to do so.
During the dress rehearsals, there were a couple of costume related issues. The lacing cord for Horace's breeches snapped and also the dancer's breeches need another eyelet to ensure underwear is not visible. The dancers also need white underwear rather than black.
Horace's Mad Monk costume had to be planted in one of the rooms, with a couple of dressers ready for a quick change. However, in the rush to put the frame-work on, it did not quite sit in the proper place, and therefore it is essential that this is checked more thoroughly in future.
It was all very enjoyable and the atmosphere was amazing. I particularly felt that the dancer's costumes worked especially well in conjunction with the choreography of the piece. We still need to break down the bodices and carry out a few minor alterations to the fit.
With regards to the lacing cord on Horace's breeches, we have decided to replace all similar breeches cords with shoe laces, as they could all potentially do the same. Also shoe laces are a strong and cheap alternative which keep in with the budget.
